about

A"er the success of their last two singles that cracked top 15 on the Canadian Indie Country Charts, Broadtree is back with their third single of the year, “Meet Me At The Table”. Staying true to their musical theatre roots, the duo have cra"ed a tender, dynamic duet that tells a love story in three acts: from the awkward sparks of a first date to the challenging ultimatum of taking another chance or walking away.

“Meet Me At The Table” marks Broadtree’s first co-written release with Beyond The Lyrics podcast host Amanda De Santis. The song is a testament of what can change in a relationship over the years and what always remains the same. It is an ode to the special objects in our lives that spark the memories that bring us back to the moments we treasure most.

lyrics

I tell the host
“This time I’m meeting someone”
And there you are, as bright as summer sun
With shaking hands I raise a glass
Of Gabby‘s best Merlot
Ain’t it funny how far spilled wine can go

I snort and laugh
Through your stumbled apologies
I say “don’t worry, I got this shirt for free”
Small talk, all my best jokes
I watch your crooked grin
Ain’t it funny how the best stories begin

I said “same time next week if you are able”
That turned into years at that same table

It’s where we laughed, where we cried
Where we never want to say goodbye
Where you shared one of your secrets
You shared a dream and I believed it
It’s where we hold hands, where we drink
Where we stare to see who’ll blink
Where we debate all the big questions now and then
Meet me at our table again

Meet me at our table again

A crowded room
Black ties and flowered dresses
Your brother’s speech makes you turn beet red
With shaking hands, we raise a glass
To everyone we know
Ain’t it funny how far two rings can go

Reach under the table, hands squeezed tight
Staring down this road, no end in sight

It’s where we laughed, where we cried
Where we never want to say goodbye
Where you shared one of your secrets
You shared a dream and I believed it
It’s where we hold hands, where we drink
Where we stare to see who’ll blink
Where we debate all the big questions now and then
Meet me at our table again

You eat at work
I’m on the couch alone
Our coloured conversations run dry to the bone
With shaking hands, I call you out
Can we just talk this through
Ain’t it funny what so many years can do

Now will we laugh? Will we cry?
Is this where we say goodbye?
Have we shared all of our secrets
Are there still dreams to believe in?

Where we laugh, where we cry
Where we never want to say goodbye
Where we share all of our secrets
We share a dream and I believe it
It's where we hold hands, where we drink
Where we stare to see who'll blink
Where we debate all the big questions now and then
Meet me at our table again
Meet me at our table again
